Croak! Watch out, the frogs are coming, and with them, fairy tales about frogs. Their croaking under the moonlight sometimes sounds eerie, but don’t worry, maybe it’s a cursed frog prince croaking. Or a magical frog queen. Or one of the frogs featured in classic fables. Unlike fairy tales, classic fables offer a lesson and do not always have happy fairy tale endings. That’s what frog fairy tales are for.

Bulls and frogs
Once there were two bulls which lived in a green meadow where many beautiful flowers were blooming. And they were always wrestling each other, trying to drive each other out of the meadow. Their wrestling was watched by the animals around them. The rabbits hopped with excitement, the squirrels cheered the bulls from the high branches of the trees, only the sheep chewed the grass quietly, not seeming to care much about the wrestling.

Once upon a time there was a pond and frogs lived in it. They lived a peaceful life there, they didn’t miss anything, only during the summer it was very hot in the sun. They hid in the shade and in the mud, and the pond never dried up completely. One summer it was very hot, but they still had a puddle where they could hide from the sun’s rays. And then when a summer storm came with rain, their pond refilled.

Beyond a few woods and a few fields was a pond. A few water lilies were floating on it and reeds grew around it. There were regular sounds coming from the reeds. “Quack, quack, quack.” Such croaking meant that two frogs were having a row by the pond. Their names were Hop and Jump. They were two frog brothers. They had lived by the pond for a long time. During the day they hid from the sun in the reeds, and in the evening they would lie down on a water lily to croak their bedtime song. The people who lived by the pond got so used to it that they couldn’t sleep without it. But one evening something was different.

She used to play in the royal garden with a glass ball. It was her favourite toy. She always threw it up in the air and caught it in her hands. She would sing and dance to it. But one day, the ball didn’t come back into her hands. Instead, it fell straight into the well.
