Animal Fairy Tales

In an oak house deep in the forest, there lived a mouse named Kaia. She was a nice little mouse. She wore pink bows between her ears and pretty dresses. She took diligent care of her home and was friends with all the animals in the forest. In front of her home there was a garden where she grew vegetables.

When it rains, there’s a lot of water everywhere. Lakes rise, rivers swell, and streams form on sidewalks. One time, the river in our village rose to such level that it nearly spilled out of its banks. The beavers and their friends the birds saved the day then. And they achieved it by helping each other. So what exactly happened?

Beyond a large hill, there stood a beautiful house. But it wasn’t an ordinary house. It was as blue as the sky, with suns painted on it. Its roof was bright red. It stood in the middle of a blossoming meadow. Colorful and sweet-smelling flowers grew all around it. But what kind of a house was it?

During September, October, and November, autumn is in full swing. Leaves change color and fall, the wind lifts our hats, and it rains more often. A lot of chestnuts also appear on the ground. Many children pick them up and take them home. That’s because these chestnuts are the best for making various figurines and animals. But have you ever heard of the lucky chestnuts?

When spring comes, meadows start sparkling with all sorts of colors. During this time, grass is the greenest it can be and pretty, colorful flowers appear all around. Some of them stand straight as a flagpole, others turn with the sun, and other still are slightly bent and hang down like bells. If you take a good look into the flowers’ blossoms, you will see a small fairy jump among them.

Far in the mountains, all the way where there’s only snow and frost, there lived a yeti. He lived on the highest mountain top, nicely hidden in a cave. No human had ever seen him. And therefore no one knew that he existed.

There are birds who like winter. They always come flying when snow falls. It doesn’t make them feel cold at all. You’ve surely seen them before. They are the crows. One winter, they came to our village too.
